Next Sunday, December 15th at 4:30PM we present a concert here called Young at “Heart”, followed by the 9th Annual Lighting of Trees and Angels.

No, it's not a celebration of Frank Sinatra and Doris Day. To support our new Youth Ministry, it's a recital of young people performing here at the “Heart” of Brooklyn. Some of them, such as Nicholas Goldrosen on trumpet and Connor Whelan on organ are from our own parish and have performed here before. But others, such as boy-soprano Mario Pinto from St. Athanasius will be making their debut here.

Once again, the Boy Scouts will usher in the Peace Light, though this year the Girl Scouts will participate by singing AND signing Silent Night! cuori BELLissimi! will accompany us outside on some popular Christmas carols just before we flip the switch! And there will be several more surprises!

In Renewing the Vision: A Framework for Catholic Youth Ministry, the US Bishops pointed out youth ministry is more than programs and events. It is “the response of the Christian community to the needs of young people, and the sharing of the unique gifts of youth with the larger community.” So as a parish, let's respond by graciously allowing these young people to share their talents with us, and support their endeavors with our attendance!
