Next Sunday, December 14th at 4:30 PM, St. Francis Preparatory High School Chamber Choir and Orchestra once again joins us here for a concert called The Glory of the Season, followed by the 10th Annual Lighting of Trees and Angels.

With an emphasis on the word “glory” you’ll hear three different settings of the Gloria, which the General Instruction of the Roman Missal describes as “a most ancient and venerable hymn by which the Church, gathered in the Holy Spirit, glorifies and entreats God the Father and the Lamb.” Our own Connor Whelan offers the World Premiere of his Gloria. Fr. Charlie Fermeglia, who was assigned here in 1990, sends us his setting in a calypso style to warm our hearts. And the Glory to God from “The People’s Mass” we’ll all sing is the one we’ll be singing next Easter!

St. Francis Preparatory will provide the “glory” of music with A Charlie Brown Christmas and Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas. The Boy Scouts will once again usher in the Peace Light, this year to When the Lord in Glory Comes. And the grand finale will be when all the performing musicians join to sing And the Glory of the Lord from Handel’s oratorio “Messiah”. Then we step outside, and cuoriBELLissimi! will accompany us on some popular Christmas carols just before we flip the switch! So come in all your glory!
