Monthly Rehearsal for all Music Ministry

Beginning this month on Wednesday, January 15th we’re going to start having a monthly joint rehearsal from 7:30 – 9:00 PM for all of our music ministry ensembles. On the third Wednesday of each month, all members of our choir and guitar ensembles are invited to come together to rehearse the music we sing as a parish family; such as responsorial psalms and gospel acclamations, the Mass of Renewal that we’ll be returning to, and a few of the hymns and songs we all perform. Hopefully, gathering together once a month for just 90 minutes will offer us renewed enthusiasm for worship and a stronger commitment in our service to all of our vital ministries to God’s people.

We’ll work on our approach to presenting music in a way that invites stronger participation of the whole assembly; checking that the music we play from has text compatible with Breaking Bread, and that each group’s musical introductions are similar, so as not to confuse the congregation. Better music heightens our awareness during liturgy; inspiring full, active and conscious participation. By striving to create more beautiful sacred music, we form relationships with our music and with each other; which in turn draws us closer to God.

Everyone is welcome to join us for these rehearsals, even if you can’t commit to singing or playing with us at Mass. So bring your guitars, horns, friends, kids, or in-laws! Spirited community music making expresses reverence and respect by fully engaging the mind, body and spirit in the act of praise. And don't worry about your voice not being good enough. There's an old saying that goes “If God gave you a good voice, raise it and sing praise with it. And if God gave you a bad voice, raise it even louder and get even!”
