It Takes a Choir

Whether it be high school students, military wives or celebrity chefs, Gareth Malone has become famous for being able to turn almost any group of people into a successful musical act as the host of the popular BBC reality series The Choir.

Now, beginning this Friday, November 1 at 10:00 pm, television's USA Network is giving America the gift of song and the opportunity to share an evening full of music and laughter; as Gareth brings his unique talents stateside for the US adaption, titled It Takes a Choir. This special holiday season docu-series will tug at your heartstrings and delight your ears!  So set your DVR!

The charismatic choirmaster travels across our country to inspire and unite an unexpected mix of ordinary characters through the spellbinding power of music. USA says “A true fish out of water, in both his environment and teaching style, Malone finds himself in the craziest situations with some of the biggest characters. Each episode culminates in a unified and powerful public performance from the choir in front of their family, friends and community.”

The BBC version, The Choir, saw Gareth take on the challenge of bringing music into the lives of students who had never sung before; ultimately taking them to compete in the World Choir Games in China. To date, this astoundingly successful series has won two British Academy of Film and Television Arts awards and two Royal Television Society awards. Self-described as an “animateur, presenter and populariser of choral singing,” 37-year old Gareth has also been appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire, a prestigious honor awarded by the Queen for services to music.
