Hymn and Prayer Requests...

I carefully select hymns for each Sunday liturgy according to the principles explained in our Music Guide, and each guitar ensemble selects the music for their alternating Saturdays. However, if there’s a hymn you would like to hear that has a special meaning for you, or offer one as a prayer for someone, you can do that now by filling out the Hymn Request form. Whether it’s for a special occasion, in memory of someone, or in hope for a blessing, you may be able to share it with the congregation as a prelude or postlude at the liturgy of your choice.

Two weeks from now I’ll be touring Italy with the Loyola University New Orleans Alumni Chorus. We’re singing a gala concert in Rome’s Basilica di Santa Maria Sopra Minerva featuring Mozart’s "Coronation" Mass in C major, K317. (Originally premiering Easter Sunday, 1779 at the Salzburg Cathedral, this Missa brevis, or short mass, got its nickname after becoming the preferred Mass for the Imperial court in Vienna.) We’re also singing three liturgies: evening Mass at Chiesa di Sant’Alfonso all’Esquilino; evening Mass at Chiesa di Santa Maria del Ricci in Florence; and Noon Mass on Saturday, June 15 at St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican City.

May I say a special prayer for you in St. Peter’s Basilica? If you take a moment to email me or write down your prayer request, I’ll take them with me and pray your concerns there. All I ask in return is that you pray for me here, both silently and in your singing. Amazing things can happen when people exchange prayers…
