posted Mar 9, 2013, 6:55 AM by Steven Vaughan
This Friday, March 15th, Holy Child Jesus Parish in Richmond Hill presents David Haas & Lori True in concert at 7:30 PM.

Highly regarded as a preeminent liturgical music composer, David Haas has produced more than 45 collections of original music, and authored over 20 books on the topics of liturgy, music ministry, spirituality, religious education and youth ministry. His music is sung and prayed throughout the world and appears in hymnals of many Christian denominations in many languages. His most popular songs include Blest Are They, Now We Remain, Song of the Body of Christ, You are Mine, We Are Called, We Have Been Told and We Will Rise Again.

Inspired by the liturgical changes of Vatican II, the St. Louis Jesuits began to compose contemporary Catholic liturgical music in the 1970s. Following their example, David Hass, Marty Haugen and Michael Joncas became some of the most prolific composers of this genre, and for many years these three presented concerts and workshops together throughout the United States. They remain friends to this day, though David presently travels with his good friend and colleague, Lori True. He writes a monthly column for Ministry and Liturgy magazine entitled, “Sung Prayer,” and has received many awards, including a Grammy Award nomination in 1991 for I Shall See God.

Holy Child Jesus Parish is excited to be joined by neighbors in parishes from Brooklyn and Queens, Long island and Manhattan; and hopes you can join them for this celebration of song and prayer. Then on Saturday, March 16th at 10:00 AM, you can also join David & Lori for a Musical Workshop: Liturgy & Life. For more information, please call (718) 847-1860.
