PM as Caritas Chamber Chorale presents a program of a cappella music.

Caritas Chamber Chorale is dedicated to serving the poorest of the poor through the art of sacred choral music. Based in central New Jersey, it was founded in 2005 for the purpose of raising funds for the Adorno Fathers' St. Francis Caracciolo Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Africa. As of 2011, funds have specifically been dedicated to the Mission's Gianni Diurni Primary School in Goma, DRC. The choir’s name was chosen to reflect their desire to emulate the greatest of the Christian virtues: love. (Caritas is translated "charity" or "love.") The singers, who come from various communities and faith traditions, are united in their shared love of choral singing and their desire to aid those in need.

A cappella, translated literally from Italian, means "in the manner of the chapel". It’s music sung without instrumental accompaniment; contrasting with cantata, which is accompanied singing.

Though they’ve performed all over New Jersey and Washington, DC, Sunday’s concert marks their first performance in New York state. The concert is free, with a freewill offering to support the African school. If you can’t make the concert but would like to support this mission, you can also make an online donation at www.CaritasChamberChorale.org.
